Galway rents are exploding because Government "opened the floodgates" with their housing policies.
That's according to Sinn Fein by-election candidate Mark Lohan, in response to the latest Daft.ie report.
It showed rents in Galway City are up 18 percent in just three months - with an average two-bed apartment now €2,300 a month.
Mark Lohan claims people are being driven out of their local areas, while families and young people hoping to build a future can't afford it.
He argues Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have continuously sided with big landlords, corporate investors and vulture funds.
