Spiralling rents in Galway are going to lead to a "tsunami" of evictions.
That's according to Social Democrats by-election candidate, Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich, in response to the latest Daft.ie figures.
It showed rents in Galway City are up 18 percent in just three months - with an average two-bed apartment now €2,300 a month.
Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich claims Government has turning a housing crisis into a housing disaster, and now a social catastrophe.
She argues that to blunt the negative impact of their own policies, Government must now introduce a three year ban on no-fault evictions, and a ban on rent increases.
