10am-11am

John chats to Deputy Mairead Farrell, Senator Lisa Chambers and Senator Gerard Craughwell about the start of a four day ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas and the need to keep diplomatic ties open. They also look at Ireland's triple lock system on troop deployment overseas - which the Government is looking to scrap, a move not universally popular.

Saorise Ruane, her mum Roseanna and Colm Kennelly of Galway Sick Kids join John in studio to talk about "Sing for Saoírse", a touching song aimed at raising funds for the Galway Sick Kids Foundation. 

Fr. Brendan Hoban is in studio to chat about his new book - Holding Out for a Hero, The Long Wait for Pope Francis.

On Galway Thoughts, John Morley and David Nevin talk to election hopefuls Luke Silke and Helen Uchechukwu Ogbu about a variety of topics, including the overnight riots in Dublin, the ongoing controversy regarding gigs at Galway Airport, and dereliction and anti-social behavior.
