McSwiggan’s stands proudly in Woodquay, Galway – a neighbourhood steeped in market tradition where the River Corrib once flowed to its doorstep. From Cosgrove’s Pub in the 1920s to Patrick O’Flynn’s grocery store in later decades, and since 1983, McSwiggan’s has remained a place where Galway gathers to share stories, meals, and moments that matter.
Under the stewardship of the Cassidy and Buckley families, McSwiggan’s brings together centuries of Irish food and hospitality tradition. The Buckleys’ butchery heritage dates back to 1660, buil
on generations of expertise in sourcing and preparing the finest meats. The Cassidys’ pub legacy stretches to 1856, creating spaces defined by warmth, welcome, and a passion for people. Together, they continue a culture rooted in honest, wholesome hospitality – where exceptional food and drink are served with care, pride, and sincerity.

We celebrate the very best of Ireland’s land and sea with every dish. Our grass-fed beef is dry-aged for depth of flavour, then cooked over open charcoal in our Josper oven to achieve its signature richness. Oysters are harvested less than 20 kilometres away at Kelly’s Oyster Farm in Kilcolgan, served simply with lemon or paired with a pint of Guinness for a true taste of the Wild Atlantic Way.
