The story of Cló Iar-Connacht
Cló Iar-Connacht publishes Irish-language books and Irish traditional music. They offer an extensive range of Irish-language books and traditional albums for sale on their website and their shop in Connemara. Cló Iar-Connacht (CIC) was founded in 1985, and since then they have published over 300 books and 150 music albums. Among the most productive publishing houses in the country, CIC employs five people full-time in their offices in Inverin, Connemara. They are one of the largest private Irish language publishing companies in Ireland.
CIC sees itself primarily as a guardian and patron of Irish language and Gaeltacht culture. They understand the great value of this culture, and the importance of protecting and fostering it. Their aim is to encourage and support their musicians and writers, and to help bring their arts to a wide audience.
