Roadworks of up to 18 months spark concerns in Claregalway village

Upcoming roadworks in Claregalway are set to take between 12 and 18 months to complete.

This has sparked concerns among the community, with councillors raising the issue at a meeting of the Athenry/Oranmore area this week.

The works are due to start in the coming months - and involve the installation of a new drainage system, footpaths, cycle lanes and road surface improvements.

The first phase of works will see pavement overlay - from the traffic lights at the church into the Parkmore Junction.

Fine Gael Cllr James Charity says the idea of working at night needs to be re-visited.
