The death has occcurred of John Furey, Castlegar, Galway, Merlin Lane Doughiska and formerly of Castlegar.

John passed away peacefully on Sunday 6th July 2025, at University Hospital Galway. Beloved husband of the late Peggy and son of the late Tom and Kathleen Furey. Predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Sally and Pat Taaffe and nephew John Furey.

Fondly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter Kathleen (Monivea), sons Mike (Manchester), Joe (Oranmore) and James (Tasmania), daughter-in-law Isla, son-in-law Terry, grandchildren, brothers Frank, Thomas, Declan, Seamus and Gerard, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and his many dear friends.

May his kind and generous soul rest in peace.

Reposing in The Holy Funeral Home Mervue (H91 FH52), on Tuesday the 8th of July from 5pm. Removal at 6:30pm to St. Columba's Church Castlegar (H91 E4C9). John's Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday the 9th of July at 11am. John will then be laid to rest with Peggy, in Castlegar Cemetery.
