Bridget (Bridie) Shaughnessy (née Costello)

SHAUGHNESSY (née Costello) Bridget (Bridie). Aughnish, Kinvara, Co. Galway. Bridget passed away peacefully on Friday the 30th of January, 2026, in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff of Kilcolgan nursing home.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Martin, by her much loved children, son Joseph and recently deceased daughter Mary Mahon, by her brother Micko and sister’s Chris, Mary and Sadie.

Bridget will forever be in the hearts of his loving family. Sadly missed by her son Raymond (Inagh), daughter Bridget Finnerty (Rinneen, Gort), daughter-in-law Ann, sons-in-law Fergus and Michael, by her 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her brother Paddy (Aughnish), sisters Margaret Conway (Claremorris) and Bernie Carr (London), nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, cousins, relatives, fantastic neighbours, many great friends and by the extended Shaughessy and Costello family’s.

May Her Kind And Gentle Soul Rest In Peace

Bridget will lie in repose at the Corless Funeral Home, Kinvara, on Sunday evening, February 1st from 5.30pm. Removal at 7pm to St. Kieran’s Church, Doorus (H91 Y9V6). Requiem Mass on Monday February 2nd at 12 noon. After Mass Bridget will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please.

Bridget’s family deeply appreciate your kindness, loyalty, love and support at this time. We wish to thank all who cared for her over the years. Finally, a special word of thanks to our wonderful family, neighbours and friends for all they have done to help us in these difficult days.
