The death has occurred of Ellen, also known as Nellie Holian née McDonagh, Rockfield, Monivea.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing on the 18th December 2025 of Ellen/Nellie Holian (nee McDonagh) of Rockfield, Monivea and formerly of St. Brendan’s, Ballygar (both Co. Galway) while in the loving care of staff at Bushfield Care Centre Oranmore.
Nellie was predeceased by her husband Peter, her parents Matt and Catherine, her sisters Sheila, Mary, Bridie, her brothers Michael, John, Pat, Mattie (former Galway footballer), Petie and her son-in-law Frank Kelly.
Nellie will be dearly missed by her daughter Goretti (Kelly), her sons Seán, Peadar and Finbar, her daughters-in-law Ann, Patricia, and Gerardine, her extended family including sister-in-law Kathleen McDonagh, her nephews, nieces, and her wonderfully kind neighbours and friends.
Nellie was a very proud grandmother to Michelle, Barry, Lorraine, Peter (all Kelly) and Katy, Mollie, Róisín, Megan, Casey, Peter, Jane, Martha, Nathan and Ellen (all Holian). Nellie was much loved also as great grandmother to Sadie, Ethan, Roman, Zach, Ezra, Saoirse, Chloe, Ella and Bobby.

Funeral Arrangements
Nellie will repose in Mannions Funeral Home Abbeyknockmoy (H54 RW94) Sunday 21st December from 4pm-6pm. Removal from her residence on Monday 22nd December for mass in St. Mary’s Church Skehana (H53VK40) at 11am. Mass will be live streamed on the following link https://www.churchtv.ie/skehana/
Burial afterwards in Doonane Cemetery.
