John (Seán) O’Connell, retired primary school teacher of St. Attracta’s, Frenchpark, Co.Roscommon and St. Brendan’s and Scoil Éinde, Galway.
John passed away peacefully at his late sister’s home in Claddagh on Tuesday, 18th November 2025. Pre-deceased by his parents, Thomas and Bridget (Delia) O’Connell, sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Richard McDermott,
John is forever loved and deeply missed by his nieces, Mary (Gilligan-Nolan), Irene (Hillier) and nephews Tommy and Patrick McDermott and their partners, Glenn, Nick and Sandra; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, great grand-nieces and great grand-nephews, extended family, kind neighbours and dear friends.

Funeral Arrangements
Thursday 20th November
Reposing at O’Flaherty’s Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91 V1K8) from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. No removal to the Church this evening.
Friday 21st November
Arriving at St. Mary’s Church, Claddagh in advance of Requiem Mass therein at 10 a.m. Following Mass John (Seán) will be laid to rest with family in the new cemetery, Bohermore. Live streaming link for Mass https://www.dominicanscladdagh.ie/live-webcam/

Parking & Entrance to the funeral parlour - Please approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr. Burke Park. Street parking may be available on Fr. Griffin Road, within Claddagh, Henry Street and Sea Road. Parking maybe scarce on Munster Avenue.
Car Parks within walking distance: Claddagh Church, Spanish Arch and Mill Street which is adjacent to the Garda Station.
