Joseph (Joe) Coonan

Joe passed peacefully from this life on 6th July 2026 in the wonderful care of the staff of University Hospital, Limerick and surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his wife Sheila, his daughters Breda and Teresa, his twin brother John and brother Paddy and his sisters Nan, Mary and Peggy (UK).

Joe will be remembered with love and sadly missed by his children, sons Joseph and John and his daughters Ann, Mary, Kathleen and Angela, sons-in-law and partners and his cherished grandchildren Alisha, Tara, Nadine, Alex, Isaac, Oisín, Leah, Keira, Dylan, Adam and Amy.

Joe will be greatly missed by his brothers Jerry and Michael and his sisters Bridgie (UK), Philomena and Teresa, his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, members of the extended family, neighbours and friends.

Joe will be repose in Dignity Funeral Care, funeral home, on the grounds of Portumna Retirement Village (H53 AY18) on Wednesday 8th July from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral cortége will arrive at St Rúadhan’s Church Lorrha at 10.45am for Requiem Mass for Joe at 11am. Joe will be laid to rest after Mass in the adjoining cemetery.
