Mary (Maisie) Murphy (née Burns)

MURPHY (nee Burns) Maisie. Galway Road, Gort, Co. Galway and late of Newcastle, Athenry, Co. Galway. Peacefully, at Kilcolgan Nursing Home, in her 96th year, on the 25th of October, 2025.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Brendan, by her parents Mary & Patrick, by her sister Sally, brothers Bertie, Seán and Paddy and by her niece Claire.

Maisie will forever be in the hearts of her loving family. Cherished and much loved mother of Mary O’Brien, Andy, Patrick, Michael and John. Fondly remembered by her daughters-in-law Rosaleen, Emma, Ann and Avril, son-in-law Seán and by her adored grandchildren Brendan, Shaun, Shane, Rory, Jamie, Isabelle & Emily and by her great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Teresa Burns, all her nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, great friends and neighbours and by the extended Murphy and Burns families.

May Her Kind And Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Maisie will lie in repose in Seomra Ciúin, within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, (H91 E0C8) on Wednesday evening, October 29th from 5.30pm until 7pm. Private removal from her residence on Thursday October 30th with the Funeral cortège arriving at St. Colman’s Church Gort for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Maisie will be laid to rest afterwards in St. Colman’s cemetery Gort.

The Murphy family deeply appreciate your kindness, love and support at this time. We thank all who cared for Maisie over the years, especially Dr. Joyce, all at Gort Medical Centre and Kilcolgan Nursing Home. Finally, a special word of thanks to our wonderful family, neighbours and friends for all they have done for us over these difficult days.
