Michael (Mickie) Sweeney

The death had occurred of Michael (Mickie) Sweeney, Ballinahattina, Mountbellew County Galway who passed peacefully (5th January 2026) in the Garbally Ward, Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe surrounded by his loving family.

Pre-deceased by his father Patrick, his mother Margaret, his children Gary (New York), Michael Andrew, twins Mary and Karen and Sarah.

Michael (Mickie) will be missed by his loving wife Winnie, children Enda, Brenda, Michael and Laura, daughter-in-law Orla, sons-in-law Noel and Cillian and beautiful grandchildren Oscar, Liam, Michael and Callum, sisters Mary and Helen, sisters-in-law Dympna and Kathleen, brothers-in-law Art and Tom, his nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbours.

Reposing at the Franciscan College Oratory, Mountbellew this Wednesday evening (7th January) from 6.00 to 8.00 pm.

Requiem Mass for Michael (Mickie) will be celebrated at 12.00 o’clock in Our Lady of Lourdres Church Caltra on Thursday 8th January with burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

House Private on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning please.
