The death has occurred of Rita Hosty (née Conneely)
Formerly of Grattan Road, Claddagh
Rita completed her life’s journey in the quiet hours before midnight on Tuesday, 13th January, 2026 with her daughters Martina and Paula by her side and in the great care of the staff at the Galway Hospice. Reunited with her beloved husband Eamon and son Ray.
Deeply mourned by her daughters Martina, Paula and Fiona, sons John and Eddie. Lovingly remembered always by her sisters Una and Ann, brother Joe, daughters-in-law Nikki and Leighanna, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces, lovely neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements
Sunday, January 18th, 2026
Rita will lie in Repose at the Church of the Holy Family funeral parlour, Mervue from 5.30 p.m. with Removal into the Church at 7 p.m. The entrance to the funeral parlour is through the Church and the exit is at car park level with wheelchair accessibility.
Monday, January 19th, 2026
Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Rita at 11 a.m. and following Mass she will be laid to rest in Rahoon cemetery. Livestream link for Mass https://www.churchtv.ie/mervue/
Memorial Donations if desired will be gratefully appreciated by the Galway Hospice. Family flowers only please.
