After a turbulent championship season in which 'Skortgate' dominated the early-season column inches, Camogie President Brian Molloy (pictured above left) cut a very satisfied figure on the steps of the Hogan Stand yesterday afternoon in Croke Park as he handed the O'Duffy Cup to Galway captain Carrie Dolan after an epic senior battle between Galway and Cork. Galway's victory followed a tremendous day of action, where Offaly were crowned Intermediate champions and Laois won the Premier Junior Final. Last night in the Bonnington Hotel, Brian Molloy spoke to Galway Bay FM commentator Tommy Devane about the culmination of the Camogie season and Galway's historic success.
Meanwhile, Congratulating Galway’s senior team on their All-Ireland Camogie final win over Cork, CEO of team sponsor Kirby Group Engineering Henry McCann said: “This Galway team demonstrated an incredible combination of skill and determination at Croke Park. To maintain their focus and secure victory under what must have been immense pressure is testament to the work rate and commitment everyone in Galway has witnessed not just yesterday, but throughout the season. On behalf of Kirby Group Engineering, I’d like to add ours to the many voices commending Galway Camogie’s achievements at all levels this season and look forward to their continued success. I’d also like to thank everyone in Galway Camogie for welcoming Kirby on board as sponsors this season. It’s been a pleasure working with the team and management and we’re already looking forward to building further on that in the coming years”.
