Jason Flynn last night called time on his 12-year senior intercounty career with Galway. The Tommie Larkins forward, who turns 31 next month, was a key member of the 2017 All-Ireland winning squad under current manager Micheal Donoghue. His club posted the following statement last night:
We are extremely proud of Jason for representing Galway with great integrity and honour over the past 12 years. A proud Tommy Larkins man who always gave his all for Galway's cause. He leaves the inter-county scene with a coveted All-Ireland medal from 2017, where he came on and scored two vital points to help seal Galway's first All-Ireland title since 1988. Jason also has two Leinster medals from 2017 and 2018 and two League medals from 2017 and 2020. Jason made his Championship debut in 2014 against Laois, and he has given us many great days and performances in the maroon and white. His 2-1 tally in the league final of 2017 kick-started Galway’s pursuit of Liam McCarthy. Jason was also nominated for Young Hurler of the Year and an All-Star in 2015. Jason has been a credit to the club on the Senior Intercounty scene for the past 11-12 seasons, and we would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Looking forward to many more years of Jason representing the red and black of Tommy Larkins. Congratulations on a fantastic intercounty career. We are very proud of you. Gaillimh Abú.
