Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man in Galway City who was found unresponsive in the grounds of the University of Galway yesterday.
At approximately 7:45 last evening Gardaí and emergency services were alerted after a man in his 30s was found unresponsive at the lands in Newcastle.
He was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The Coroner and Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and the scene remains preserved.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged, the outcome of which will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
A Garda spokesperson has confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
