A local TD is pushing for Government policy to be introduced on industrial hemp production.
Raising the matter in the Dáil, Roscommon/Galway Deputy Dr. Martin Daly suggested the issue is "prejudiced" here because hemp is part of the cannabis family.
But he argued it's a recognised crop in many other EU countries, is regulated, and has a wide range of applications.
