Property purchased in Clifden for remote working hub

A major step forward towards the establishment of a Remote Working Hub in Clifden has been announced.

The Connemara Chamber chairperson, John Sweeney made the announcement of the purchase of a large old house in Clifden known locally as “The Kirk”.

Located at the head of the Beach Road on the western outskirts of the town, the Kirk has historic tentacles in Connemara. It was a Methodist religious centre in the latter half of the 19th Century and a school functioned there until 1908.

Now the focus is on the future.

The Connemara Chamber has centred attention over the past number of years on the need for a Remote Working Centre and enterprise hub in Clifden town.

The purchase of the Kirk at €435,000 is leading towards that.

Announcing the initiative, outgoing Chamber Chairman John Sweeney said that there had been extensive contacts with Galway County Council, and public representatives, regarding the Remote Working Hub proposal.

He envisages that there could be well over 50 working spaces in the Hub and he estimated expenditure of some millions on the project.
