Connacht Community Games Report
Connaught Community Games held their Annual General Meeting in the Ard Ri Hotel in Tuam last night. Delegates were welcomed by Connaught Chairman, John Byrne, and detailed Reports were given by the Secretary, Treasurer and Communications Officer. Galway hosted the two Connacht Finals in April and July 2025 in Tuam, and the County were congratulated on the way the two Finals were organised.
The Connaught Community Games Officers elected for 2026 were:
President: Carmel Grealy, Galway
Vice President: Maura McCormack, Roscommon,
Chairman: Anthony Leonard, Sligo
Vice Chairperson: Anne Taaffe, Sligo
Secretary: Margaret Bolton, Sligo
Treasurer: Anne Kelly, Sligo,
RTD Declan Regan, Roscommon,
Children's Officer: Mary Leydon, Sligo
National Appeals: John Walsh, Sligo
Trophy Directors: Maura McCormack and Anne Keane, Roscommon
Other positions will be elected at a later date
Sligo will host the 2026 Connaught Finals on the 5th May and 25th July. Tributes were paid by the Connacht Secretary, Margaret Bolton, to Breda and Shellie Power, who were retiring from Community Games after over 40 years' involvement with Connaught Community Games. Beautiful Flower Bouquets were presented on behalf of Connaught to both, by Declan Regan, Roscommon and Eileen Brennan, Sligo.
