The Countdown is On: Galway Gears Up for Six Days of Local Magic at the LOCAL Food and Craft Gift Fair. On Thursday Ronan Lardner broadcasts The Live Wire from the Local Food and Craft Fair from 12 to 3pm. It's going to be a busy afternoon full of fun and giveaways. Drop down and say hello and pick up all your Christmas gifts too!
The countdown is on, and Galway’s makers, bakers, and creators are ready to take centre stage. The Local Food and Craft Gift Fair returns to the Black Box Theatre later this month and it promises to be bigger, brighter, and busier than ever before.
Running from Thursday, November 27th to Tuesday, December 2nd, this year’s fair transforms the Black Box Theatre into a festive wonderland — six full days celebrating the best of Galway’s homegrown creativity. Over 50 local exhibitors will showcase handcrafted treasures, artisan foods, and original designs, making it the perfect place to find gifts with heart and authenticity.
Organised by the Local Enterprise Office Galway and supported by Galway County and City Councils, the event has evolved from a small community fair in 2012 into a flagship celebration of Galway’s local talent. It’s now a firm fixture on the city’s festive calendar as a place where creativity meets community spirit.
Countdown to Christmas, Galway Style : Forget the online shopping scramble — this is Christmas the Galway way: personal, sustainable, and full of character. From handcrafted jewellery to homemade preserves, every purchase supports a local dream and helps keep creativity thriving in our county.
A Festive Experience for Everyone: The fair isn’t just about shopping — it’s about soaking up the spirit of the season. Families can enjoy live music, magical performances from Barnardo the Magician, and even a special visit from Santa. Whether you come for the crafts, the flavours, or the festive fun, there’s something for everyone.
Easy to Get To, Hard to Leave: To make it easier than ever to join the celebration, a free bus service will run across Galway County — making your visit simple, sustainable, and stress-free. Full route and booking details are available at localenterprise.ie/Galway

Admission is free, and there’s ample parking at the venue. This year’s charity partner is the Galway Sick Kids Foundation.
