Win a Hi-Lux:  Cortoon Lavally Playing Fields CLG has announced the official launch of its exciting new fundraising initiative, “Win a Hilux,” taking place on Saturday, September 6th at Tuam Plaza. Join Marc Roberts on The Feel Good Breakfast and Valerie Hughes on The Wagon Wheel live 8am-1pm from the launch on Saturday at Tuam Plaza.

The organisation, which has long been dedicated to enhancing recreational and community facilities in Cortoon and Lavally, is embarking on an ambitious project to develop state-of-the-art amenities for the local community.

For years, the community field in Brownsgrove has served local needs. However, with a growing population, the demand for modern facilities to support connection, wellbeing, and active living has never been greater.

Phase One of the development will include:

Phase One will include:

  • A full-size astro pitch
  • A full-size GAA pitch
  • Dressing rooms
  • Viewing Stand
  • Gym facilities
  • Meeting rooms
  • Walking track
  • Children’s playground
  • Car parking facilities
  • Biodiversity area

Phase Two will deliver a new Community Centre, designed to host drama, badminton, basketball, Foroige, Golden Age, Men’s and Women’s Shed, and various classes and activities to ensure all members of the community are catered for.

Before applying for grant support, the committee must first secure ownership of the identified site in Cortoon (subject to planning permission). To raise the necessary funds, Cortoon Lavally Playing Fields CLG has launched the “Win a Hilux” raffle.

The draw will take place in December 2025.  Tickets are available online via iDonate, as well as at local venues including Tuam Stadium, marts, shopping plazas, and community events.
