The Irish Women's Rugby squad had a final get-together in Dublin today before they fly out to England tomorrow for the World Cup. It was an occasion full of excitement and giddiness, as players were presented with their official Rugby World Cup gear before meeting members of the press and media for the final time before departing for the biggest tournament in their sport. The Irish squad is made up of 7 girls from Connacht, including 22-year-old Ivana Kiripati, born in New Zealand to Samoan parents, but raised and educated in Athlone, before earning a scholarship to American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Ivana played her underage rugby in Buccaneers and is registered as a Creggs RFC player for the Irish Squad. Having graduated in Criminal Justice and Psychology last May in the US, Ivana's senior rugby career has taken off in recent weeks after winning caps against Scotland and Canada.
