60 athletes, coaches and chaperones from Galway, representing Special Olympics Team Connaught in various sports will be getting the Galway train to the National Games in Dublin on Thursday 17th June.
The team will be at the Train Station from 9.30am with departure at 10.10.
There will be 242 athletes representing Team Connaught at the Games that will take place in Dublin between the 18th and the 21st of June with the opening ceremony at Tallaght Stadium.
There will be almost 1300 athletes nationwide representing the 5 provinces, Connaught, Leinster, Eastern, Munster and Ulster taking part in 13 different sports: Athletics, Aquatics, Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Bocce, Equestrian, Football, Golf, Gymnastics (both Rhythmic and Artistic), Kayaking, Table Tennis and MATP.
Patricia Creaven is Head Coach Team of the Connaught Rhythmic Gymnastics team and ahead of the launch that was held at Dexcom Stadium, she spoke to John Mulligan on Saturday Sport.
