Connacht LGFA have announced the election of Keith Gilroy, a native of Sligo, as its new President.
He takes over from Brendan Cregg from Roscommon, who has served for the past two years.
Keith Gilroy from the St Farnan’s club has a long-standing involvement with the Association. He served as Fixtures Chairperson in Sligo from 2013 to 2016, before being elected Chairperson of the County board from 2016 to 2019. Concurrently, he served as PRO of Connacht LGFA from 2014 to 2022, and for the last three years, he has served as Vice President. He assumes the Presidency with immediate effect on a four-year term.
Speaking after his election, he said:
“I am honored to be elected President of Connacht LGFA. My focus for the year ahead will be on player development, from grassroots right through to inter-county level, and also on the PR side of things to further promote ladies’ football within Connacht. We have a strong foundation across the province, and I look forward to working with all our volunteers, players, and counties to continue growing the game.”
“Wishing all my fellow officers the very best of luck for the year ahead. I look forward to working together for the good of ladies football in Connacht.”
Also confirmed at Convention, Kathy Butler (Leitrim) was elected Vice-President She takes up the role after serving as the Chairperson in Leitrim over the past few years.
Following the Convention held on Saturday evening at the Connacht Centre of Excellence, the following officers were also elected:
- Vice President: Kathy Butler (Leitrim)
- Secretary: Brian Galvin (Mayo)
- Assistant Secretary: Neil Matheson (Mayo)
- Treasurer: Martin Seary (Sligo)
- Assistant Treasurer: Liam McDonagh (Sligo)
- PRO: John McDermott (Galway)
- Registrar: Maeve Quinn (Leitrim)
- Culture and Language Officer: Marion McDermott (Galway)
