Six Galway boxers and two coaches will represent Ireland in the upcoming Four Nations in Scotland next month.
The 2026 edition marks a revival, after a years’ long hiatus, of a tradition of competing between Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.
Ireland will take part in tournaments from U15 to Elite and the Galway boxers named on the U15 team are Edward and John Paul Ward from Olympic and Cora Keane from Connemara.
The team is also managed by Gabe Cronnelly from Monivea.
On the U17 team, Lacey Shaughnessy of Monivea and Dominic Barrett of Titans will represent Ireland with Monivea’s Gus Farrell one of the coaches and Robbie Osula of Celtic Eagles has been named on the Elite team.
Boxing Ireland President, Anto Donnelly, is Head of Delegation, while the Overall Team Manager is Anna Moore, of St. Francis BC, Limerick.
President Donnelly says “I’m proud to see the Four Nations tournament revived and Ireland competing once again alongside England, Scotland and Wales in such an historic competition with such a long tradition. To field a team of 88 athletes is a huge milestone and reflects the strength and depth of boxing throughout Boxing Ireland’s clubs. Tournaments like this are so important for development, giving our athletes the chance to gain international experience and test themselves against quality opposition. I look forward to an exciting tournament of top-quality boxing”
The tournament will take place at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell, Scotland from Thursday 11th June to Sunday 14th June 2026.
