The Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education and Camogie Third Level Championships are underway with the Ashbourne Cup race in camogie commencing last Tuesday (13th January 2026).
University of Galway began with a 4-19 to 3-13 victory over TU Dublin in Round 1; while defending champions University of Limerick ran out 3-14 to 0-6 winners against SETU Waterford.
St. Thomas' Áine Keane is seeking a third consecutive crown with the Limerick college and was player of the tournament in their 2025 success.
Since then, an ACL injury robbed her of on field activity as Galway won the All-Ireland under-23 championships, as well as her club getting relegated to Senior B camogie.
Áine Keane caught up with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly at the launch of the Electric Ireland championships and they began by chatting about all the changes over the last 12 months.
