John Shortt from Roscam was the standout star at the European Short Course Swimming Championships this week.
The Galway man won the European 200m Backstroke Title in a new World and European Junior record time of 1.47.89 and set a new senior championship record in the process.
John also set new Irish records in the 50 and 100m Backstroke and to top off the week, was part of the Irish Relay team who also set a new national record.
As the championships wound down, John Mulligan caught up with the champion swimmer.
