The first weekend of the National Indoor Juvenile Athletics Championships was held at the TUS Arena in Athlone last Saturday and Sunday.
Among the medal winners from Galway were Athenry’s Beth Okane, who took Gold in the U-12 Girls Shot Put, Elliana Magnetti from GCH took Silver in the U13 Girls 60 metres hurdles, her clubmate Maneli Fazaeli took Silver in the 60 metres sprint, and Nicola Grealish from Castlegar took Silver in the Shot Put.
In the U14 Boys, Owen Gannon from Athenry took Gold in the 1km Walk, Noah Brady from Athenry took Gold in the Shot Put and Silver in the 60m Hurdles, while also in the Shot Put competition, Calum Cummins from South Galway took Silver, and Aaron Burke from Craughwell took Bronze.
In the U14 Girls, Avan Dinkin from Clare River Harriers took Gold in the 1Km Walk, with Mia O’Toole from GCH taking Silver, and Hollie Carey from South Galway took Bronze in the Shot Put.
In the U15 Boys, Grofu Newell from Castlegar won Gold in the 1Km Walk, Harry Melia from Athenry took Bronze in the 60m Hurdles, and Halle Feerick from Craughwell took Gold in the High Jump.
In the U15 Girls, Tuam’s Emma Howson won Gold in the 1 km walk, Lauren Kelly from Craughwell won Bronze in the 60m Hurdles, and Aoibheann O’Malley from Tuam won Silver in the High Jump.
In the U16 Girls, Teagan Rooney from Tuam won Silver in the 1500m Walk, with Hazel Dinkin from Clare River Harriers taking Bronze.
In the U17 Girls, Cliodhna Ni Chonaill from Castlegar won Gold in the 1500m Walk.
In the U18 Boys, Ciaran Kelleher from South Galway took Silver in the 1500m Walk.
In the U18 Girls, Rachel Warde from Craughwell won Gold in the 60m Hurdles.
In the U19 Boys, Shane McGovern from GCH won Silver in the 400 metres, and Daniel Sangodele from West Coast won Gold in the Triple Jump.
In the U19 Girls, Angela Cielecka (pictured centre) from West Coast won Gold in both the 60 metres sprint and the 200 metres, while in the 60m Hurdles, Craughwell’s Lauren Kilduff took Silver, with her clubmate Emma O’Donovan taking Bronze.
