World Indoor Championships

Emma Moore of Galway City Harriers made her senior international debut at a major Championships on Friday last at the World Indoor Track and Field Championships in Torun, Poland, as she raced for Ireland over 800 metres.

Moore has had a great season to date breaking U23 records and winning National medals.  She competed in the final of six heats of the 800m, probably the most competitive event on the programme.

The GCH star raced well, placing fifth in her heat in a swift 2.02 clocking, and just missed out on a semi-final berth in a strong debut at the highest level.

Ultra 100km Championships

The 31st Anglo Celtic Plate (ACP) delivered a superb showcase of ultrarunning talent at the University of Limerick, marking Ireland’s first time hosting the prestigious 100K international since 2021.
In a highly competitive edition of the event, both the Irish men’s and women’s teams secured third place in the international team standings, while the National 100K Championships produced several standout individual performances.

England once again demonstrated their depth in ultrarunning, taking victory in both the men’s and women’s team competitions.

Held in conjunction with the ACP, the National Championships featured a series of strong Irish performances. The women’s race saw a superb performance from Patricia McLoughlin, who claimed the national title in 8:14:57, with Sinead Egan of Galway City Harriers winning silver in 8:56:17, a super performance on her debut for her country.

EGAC 8km

The annual East Galway Athletic Club 8k held last Sunday attracted a large turnout and a competitive field to the Skehana venue.

In the men’s event, Rian Collins of Athenry A.C. claimed victory in commanding fashion, ahead of Donal Farren of Letterkenny AC who secured second place, while Sam Nyhan, also representing Athenry A.C., completed the podium in third.

The women’s race saw Holly Shaughnessy of Tuam AC take the top spot with an impressive run. She was followed by Evangeline Dolan, who clinched a well‑deserved second place, while Sarah Keane of Abbey Running Club crossed the line in third to round out the medal positions.
