The largest TAG Rugby event in Ireland returns this evening with the Galway Corinthians TAG festival at Corinthian Park.
This long standing event is run as part of the Connacht Rugby TAG Series, has 72 teams and over 1000 players taking to the nine pitches weekly at the ground over the next ten weeks.
The event is now very much part of the Galway summer and its timing is deliberate as to not clash too much with the Arts Festival with Finals night on the 17th of July following slightly after the start of the Festival itself on the 13th.
Another important factor of the event’s success has been the “Party Nights” which always has a fundraising element and three of those nights are again confirmed for this year’s TAG. Following on from the opening night this evening there will be the “Fancy Dress” night on the 5th of June, “County Colours” night on Thursday the 25th of June and the now famed “Finals Night” on Friday, 17th of July when all finals will be held. A decision on the chosen charity will be announced on the club social media pages in the next couple of weeks.
The launch of the Corinthians TAG took place on Thursday last and John Mulligan was there.
He started by speaking to organiser Aaron Broderick who was amazed at how quick the event has come around again.
John also spoke to the incoming President of Galway Corinthians RFC John Murphy who was looking forward to the event getting underway.
Finally, John caught up with Petteri Hilska and Tina Jaeger of Mathworks who will be playing in the TAG with TagLab (based off the name MatLab which is the main Software developed by MathWorks).
