Galway GAA delighted with growing opposition to extending inter-county season

Plans to extend the GAA inter-county season by two weeks into August appear to have run into major opposition, with a vote on the matter on Saturday week at the association's annual Congress. It's being reported that Kerry GAA will vote against plans to push the All-Ireland football final back by two weeks, following Cork delegates' decision last night to do likewise. Galway County Board Chairman Paul Bellew is happy with the Cork and Kerry decision, given that Galway has held a longstanding view that any extension of the GAA season would negatively impact the ability of a dual county to run off its club championships on time. Bellew says the decision to delay the All-Ireland finals is no longer a "Fait Accompli"....
