Galway Minor and U20 Hurling Draws take place

The draws for the Galway Minor and U20 Hurling Championships were made last night at the latest Galway Hurling Committee meeting. The details are below:

U20 A, A1 & B Championship, 8 Teams. 2 groups x 4 teams. Open draw. Top 3 teams in each group qualifies to knockouts. First placed teams go to Semi Finals. Second and third placed teams cross play in Quarter finals, 2A v 3B, 2B v 3A. All group games are home and away. In the event of home venue not being available home team travels to opponents’ venue or other nominated venue. Winner on the day in all knockout games up to and including Semi Finals & Final Replay.

Minor A, B and B1: The top 4 teams in each group qualifies Quarter Finals 1A v 4B, 2A v 3B, 3A v 2B, 4A v 1B, Semi Finals open draw. All group games are home and away. In the event of home venue not being available, the home team travels to opponents’ venue or other nominated venue. Winner on the day in all knockout games up to and including Semi Finals & Final Replay.

Minor C (U17) Championship: All 4 teams qualify for Semi Finals 1A v 4A, 2A v 3A. All group games are home and away. In the event of the home venue not being available home team travel to opponents’ venue or other nominated venue. Winner on the day in all knockout games up to and including Semi Finals & Final Replay.

U17 Hurling Championship Dates: Round 1 Sunday July 5th, Round 2 Sunday July 19th, Round 3 Sunday August 2nd, Round 4 Sunday August 16th, Round 5 Sunday August 30th (C Semi-final), Q-Final Sunday September 13th (C Final), Semi-final Sunday September 27th, Final Sunday October 11th (All Dates are Provisional, are subject to Change and changes may depend
on competition progress and available dates).

 

 

The following regulations, shall govern all Galway GAA Hurling Championships (including U17) in accordance with (Code 11.1 (e) T.O. 2025): (a) League results shall be credited as follows: 2 points for a win, and one for a draw. (b) If a Team is Disqualified or Retires during the course of the League Stage, it’s played Games shall stand and its unplayed Games shall be awarded to the Opposing Teams. (c) When Teams finish with equal points for Qualification for the Concluding Stages, or for Promotion or Relegation, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified: (i) The higher number of League Points obtained in the ‘Head-toHead’ games defined as the games in which the teams involved in the tie have played each other. (ii) The higher Scoring Difference (subtracting the total Scores Against from total Scores For) in the ‘Head-to-Head’ games. (iii) The higher Scores For in the ‘Head-to- Head’ games. (iv) If the application of criteria (i) to (iii) results in a team(s) being successful or eliminated but there is still a relevant tie to be decided, criteria (i) to (iii) are to be repeated for the ‘Head-to- Head’ games only of the still tied teams. (v) The higher Scoring Difference in all games in the League Group. (vi) The higher Scores For in all games in the League Group. (vii) A Play-Off. Exception 1: In the event that two teams or more finish with equal points, but have been affected by a disqualification, loss of game on a proven objection, retirement or walkover, the tie shall be decided by the following means: (i) Least number of Walkovers given. (ii) Score Difference from the games in which only the teams involved, (teams tied on points), have played each other (subtracting the total Scores Against from the total Scores For) (iii) Highest Total Score For, in which only the teams involved have played each other, and have finished equal in (ii) (iv) Highest Total Goals For, in which only the teams involved have played each other, and have finished equal in (ii) & (iii) (v) A Play-Off (vi) Exception 2: Where two or more teams finish level on points with both having qualified for the concluding stages, the tie shall be decided as per regulations above as appropriate with the following exception: There shall be no playoff, Instead, the ranking will be decided by the drawing of lots or the toss of a coin at the discretion of the CCC.
