17 Swimmers from Galway Swimming Club (GSC) competed in Stuttgart’s International Swimming Gala last weekend and returned home with an incredible 33 medals.
The competition (Which was Stuttgart's 50th) included teams from many nations including Germany, France, the UK, Egypt and Nigeria.
Many of Galway's swimmers achieved personal bests in a 50m outdoor pool during a heatwave with temperatures of up to 35 degrees which is no mean feat.
The athletes who travelled are in the most senior squads in the club. They train between 6 and 8 times a week including three sessions that start at 5.30am.
This was all done under the guidance and support of GSC’s head coach Brendan Breathnach.
