Galway United marked their historic arrival to Pearse Stadium on Friday (19th June 2026) with a 2-1 victory over Derry City, to strengthen their seventh place position and move five points clear of the relegation positions.
Two Stephen Walsh goals ensured him another place in the annals of the club as it proved enough to take the three points, giving them a first home win in the SSE Airtricity League Men's Premier Division since beating the same opposition back in April. Michael Duffy got a late penalty for Derry City while James McClean also made an appearance from the bench.
