Galway United Club Statement – Men’s First Team

Galway United regret to announce that Ollie Horgan has stepped away from his position as Assistant Manager of the Men’s First Team for the foreseeable future.

Ollie joined the club ahead of the 2023 season and brought with him his trademark energy, experience, and unwavering commitment. His contribution was instrumental in our First Division title success and our return to the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division.

We sincerely thank Ollie for his hard work and dedication during his time with the club and wish him all the very best.

Galway United can also confirm that Jon Daly will join John Caulfield’s backroom staff as First Team Coach and Assistant Manager with immediate effect.

Daly, who enjoyed a highly successful playing career in England and Scotland, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the setup. The Dublin native led St Patrick’s Athletic to the 2023 FAI Cup and has also managed Dundalk, along with coaching stints in Finland and Scotland.

Galway United Men’s manager John Caulfield added, “Ollie and myself have been discussing this over the last number of weeks and we are delighted that Jon is joining us. I’d like to personally thank Ollie for all his help and assistance.”
