Kilkerrin-Clonberne were crowned LGFA All-Ireland Senior Football champions for the fifth successive year after a 2-8 to 1-5 victory over St. Ergnat's Moneyglass on Saturday evening at Croke Park.
Kilkerrin-Clonberne did not have it all their own way in a tight first half. Chloe Miskill's 22nd-minute goal was cancelled out immediately by Leah Stewart, who finished from close range after a high-dropping ball fell inside the square. There were only two between the sides at halftime as the Galway side led by 1-4 to 1-2. But the East Galway women hit 1-3 without reply in 13 minutes at the start of the second half, which swung the game in their favour. Lynsey Noone got the all-important goal, which put her side in charge after some nice points from goalscorer Chloe Miskell, Eva Noone and Aisling Madden.
From there, Willie Ward's side just had to see out the victory, which they did and were crowned All-Ireland champions, completing an historic five in a row, becoming only the second club side in any code to do so after Waterford's Ballymacarbry.
