Loughrea’s Alex O’Grady took time away from Leaving Certificate study on yesterday’s UK Bank Holiday Monday to claim his first win of the year in the second race of the UK GB4 Championship at Oulton Park. The young Galwegian made a superb start from pole, handled an early safety car restart well, and led home championship leader Fred Green. O’Grady gradually pulled clear in the second half of the race to take the chequered flag by 2.6 seconds.
After the pair’s exciting lap-one battle on Saturday, O’Grady immediately put Green in the shade this time around, building a strong margin on the opening lap. O’Grady now sits an impressive second in the UK GB4 Championship, with three podiums from the opening six races. His next outing is at Donington Park in June, where he will hope to continue his flying form.
