Maigh Cuilinn set up a Connacht Senior Football Championship semi-final clash with Leitrim Gaels next weekend after a 1-20 to 1-9 victory over Shamrock Gaels of Sligo in the quarter-final in Tubbercurry on Sunday afternoon. The Galway champions didn't have it all their own way, however, as they conceded a first-half goal and only led by 0-10 to 1-4 at halftime. But Dessie Conneely added a late goal to bring his total tally to 1-10, and secure his side's place in the semi-final despite a spirited performance from the Sligo men.
Maigh Cuilinn will now face Leitrim Gaels in the semi-final on Sunday (16th November) at 1:30 pm at Pearse Stadium. The prize for the winners will be a place in the Connacht Final against St.Brigid's (Roscommon) or Ballina Stephenites (Mayo).
