Meelick-Eyrecourt were crowned Galway Intermediate Hurling Champions for the first time since 1997 on Sunday afternoon as they defeated Kinvara in Kenny Park, Athenry by a solitary goal, on a scoreline of 1-16 to 0-16. Meelick-Eyrecourt went in at half time 1-7 to 0-6 to the good. Jarlath McEvoy's 21st-minute goal proved all the difference as his side held on for a three-point victory, to write the wrongs of the final heartbreak of three years ago.
