The County AGM of Galway County Community Games took place recently in the Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry, with delegates from 15 affiliated areas in attendance.
A comprehensive 60-page report detailing all Community Games activities in 2025 was presented to the delegates.
Warm tributes were paid to John Byrne (Chairman), Shellie Power (Secretary), and Breda Power (PRO), all of whom are retiring after a lifetime of dedicated service to Community Games.
Unfortunately, no nominations were received for the positions of County Chairperson or County Secretary. As a result, a new County Committee could not be formed.
An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will take place in the Raheen Woods Hotel on Wednesday, 14 January 2026.
It is vital that all Areas attend and put forward nominations for these two key positions to ensure that Community Games can continue in Galway in 2026. Without nominations, regrettably, Community Games activities in the county will be unable to proceed next year.
After 55 years, it would be a great loss for the children of Galway to be unable to participate in Community Games activities, so support from all Areas is essential.
