Participation At All-Time High For FAI Schools Primary 5s

It was a brilliant day at the Aviva Stadium as 29 different schools took part in the 2026 FAI Schools Primary 5s National Finals.

This was another record year for participation with 47,760 children taking part in the competition, which is a fun five-a-side format that brings football into schools around the country.

The finalists represented 12 different counties with Minister of State with Responsibility for Sport and Postal Policy Charlie McConalogue being joined by members of the FAI Board to help present medals to the winning teams.

The continued rise in women & girls' football in Ireland was showcased in the 46% female participation across the competition, while children of all abilities were catered for in the Football For All Cup and participation initiative.
