Six Irish Travel to 2017 European Badminton Championships

The European Badminton Championships 2017 is taking place from 25th-30th April in Kolding, Denmark. The players travelling to the event include Scott Evans, Chloe Magee, Sam Magee, Joshua Magee, Rachael Darragh and Sara Boyle.

Last year at the European Championships Sam and Chloe Magee had an impressive performance beating former European gold medalists Mateusiak and Zieba of Poland on their way to the quarter-finals. Having been drawn in the same quarter of the draw as the pair this year they may come head to head once again. Scott Evans features in the men's singles where he has been drawn against Zvonimir Durkinjak of Croatia. A win there will see him come up against rising star Anders Antonsen of Denmark.

The younger players travelling to the event are Sara Boyle and Rachael Darragh who feature together in the women's doubles. They have drawn the Finnish pair of Nystrom/Pekkola. Rachael also features in the women's singles where she has a good record against her opponent Flore Vadenhoucke of Germany.
