Swim Ireland Awards for John Shortt and Laura Casserley - The Interviews
There were major awards for Galway’s John Shortt and Laura Casserley at the Swim Ireland Awards last weekend.

John won the Male Performance Pathway Athlete of the Year Award after becoming Ireland’s first ever male World Junior Champion along with European Junior championship gold.

Laura, who plays with Tribes Water Polo Club and still a junior, was named the Irish Women’s Water Polo Player of the year.

Laura was instrumental with her club’s senior team this year as well as being part of Ireland’s U18 European Championships team.

John Mulligan spoke to both athletes on Saturday and Sunday Sport.
