Top-of-the-table Clash in SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Round 7 this Saturday as Galway United go to Shelbourne

The SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division returns this Saturday with Round 7 following a short break for the Women’s All-Island Cup.

It’s a huge day ahead with six fixtures across the Round including top-of-the-table clash between Shelbourne and unbeaten leaders Galway United at Tolka Park.

Reigning Champions Athlone Town face the visit of 5th place Treaty United while Shamrock Rovers host Bohemians at Tallaght Stadium in a Dublin Derby.

Shelbourne v Galway United

Shelbourne host unbeaten leaders Galway United at Tolka Park, who maintained their 100% record in the League with a 2-1 win against Peamount United last time out, with Emma Doherty on the scoresheet once again. March Player of the Month Aoibheann Costello grabbed the winner for the Tribeswomen.

Galway United followed that up with a 4-1 away win in the Women’s All-Island Cup against Lisburn Rangers courtesy of an Aoibheann Donnelly hat-trick.

The Reds arrive in strong form off the back of a 3-0 win at The Cross last time out in the League and a 2-1 Dublin Derby win against Bohemians in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians

Tallaght Stadium hosts the Dublin Derby between Shamrock Rovers, who are in positive form in both the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division and Women’s All-Island Cup, and Bohemians.

The Hoops followed up their 5-2 comeback win against Shelbourne with a draw against Treaty United and a 3-1 win in the Women’s All-Island Cup against Sligo Rovers.

Bohemians head to Tallaght off the back of a difficult fortnight, following a 5-1 defeat against Sligo Rovers last time out in the League and a 2-1 loss to Shelbourne in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Athlone Town v Treaty United

The Champions produced an impressive comeback against Waterford in Round 6, coming from 2-0 down at the RSC to win 4-2 courtesy of two braces from Dana Scheriff and Alexis Strickland.

Treaty United engaged in two stalemates over the last fortnight drawing 0-0 against Shamrock Rovers last time out in the League and another 0-0 result against Cork City in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Treaty United star Madison McGuane claimed the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Player of the Month award for April.

Waterford v Sligo Rovers

Waterford host Sligo Rovers at the RSC on the back of a 4-2 home defeat to reigning Champions Athlone Town last time out in the League before bouncing back with a 1-0 away win against Glentoran in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Sligo Rovers ran out 5-1 winners against Bohemians in their last League clash with Sydney Stephens dispatching a hat-trick to secure a statement win for the Bit O’Red.

Stephens was also on the scoresheet in Sligo Rovers’ 3-1 loss to Shamrock Rovers in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Wexford v Peamount United

Wexford picked up a 1-1 draw against DLR Waves in the League before sharing the spoils with Linfield in the Women’s All-Island Cup as Emma Bucci’s late header rescued a point.

Peamount United were edged 2-1 by Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park in their previous League game before responding with a convincing 5-0 win against DLR Waves in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

DLR Waves v Cork City

DLR Waves return to the Bowl after a 1-1 draw against Wexford in Round 6, where Siun Murdiff found the net. They suffered a difficult 5-0 defeat to Peamount United in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Cork City are still searching for their opening points of their SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division campaign but they will hope that they can get a new manager bounce following the arrival of Derek Coughlan as new City boss.
