Tuam Swimming Club had reason to celebrate over the weekend when one of their own claimed gold and was named “Swim of the Day” at Irish Age Group Nationals in Limerick.
14-year-old Eoin Keaveney from Dunmore delivered a stunning performance in the 200m Breaststroke, taking the Irish National Champion title in the Boys 14 category.
In a race that showcased both talent and grit, Eoin dropped an incredible 6.11 seconds from his heat swim to the final to secure the top spot on the podium.
It didn’t stop there. Eoin also claimed bronze in the 50m Breaststroke, recording personal best times in both the heats and the final — a testament to his consistency and determination across the meet.
The highlight of the weekend came when Eoin’s performance in the 200m Breaststroke was named ‘Swim of the Day’ for Day 3 by the Irish Swim Coaches Association. This is the first time in Tuam Swim Club’s history that a swimmer has received the prestigious award.
The meet brought together the best young swimmers from across the country, and the Irish Age Group Swimming Nationals in UL once again proved to be the swim meet of the year. With record crowds, top performances, and an electric atmosphere, it was an unforgettable weekend for athletes, coaches, and families alike.
Eoin’s success is the result of hard work, dedication, and natural talent. A dedicated member of Tuam SC, he is also part of the Connacht Swimming Squad and the club credits his involvement at regional level as having been a huge benefit to his development as an athlete.
