Waterford 1 Galway United 1 (Post Match Reaction with Jonathan Higgins)

Galway United drew with Waterford at the RSC on Saturday evening as the point was enough for John Caulfield's side to secure their top-flight status for 2026.

Stephen Walsh headed in a David Hurley cross after 16 minutes to give the Tribesmen the lead, but Padraig Amond equalised for the Blues seven minutes before half-time. The second half was a tense affair, and with word spreading that Sligo Rovers had the lead in Tallaght, United knew they could afford no mistakes if they were to avoid the relegation playoff. But Caulfield's side held strong, and the full-time whistle was met with relief from players and fans alike.
