Resolution Run 5k: A record entry of close to 700 competed in the first road race of the year, the Campion Insurance Resolution Run over 5k, organised by Galway City Harriers. There was a great three-way battle out front for victory, with William Fitzgerald of Craughwell and David Carter of host club GCH both taking the lead at various stages, only for David Meehan of Tulla AC to pip both with a swift 2.54 last kilometre to come home in 15.12. Carter was next home in 15.19, with Fitzgerald third in 15.26. In the Ladies' race, Maebh Brannigan (pictured) of GCH dominated affairs, winning well in 17.30, ahead of clubmates Amey Bermingham in 18.06, and Siobhan Lee in 18.10.
Fixtures: The Galway County Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place in the TUS Athlone Indoor Arena on the weekend of 17th-18th January next, with competitions for Juveniles and Adults. The Adult programme will take place on Sunday afternoon, January 18th, and entry is available for all events via Entry for Sport.
