A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of his mother, following a serious assault in Ballybrit last Friday
Dubravko Ostojic, of no fixed abode, was brought before a special sitting of Galway District Court last evening, charged with assault causing harm.
65 year old Milena Ostojic sustained serious wounds at her home at Claí Mór, an estate just off the Monivea Road, on Friday night.
She was taken to University Hospital Galway, where she died in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In court yesterday, a defence application for bail for Dubravko Ostojic was refused, given the seriousness of the charge.
The accused was remanded in custody to appear by videolink at Galway District Court this morning.
