An appeal's been lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála against the first ever permanent Park and Ride facility in Galway City.
The 176 car development, overseen by the National Transport Authority, would be based at Cappagh Road in Knocknacarra.
Park and Ride has been on the agenda in Galway for more than 20 years.
So approval from city planners last month was widely hailed as a step in the right direction, even if there are some shortfalls.
Lack of dedicated bus lanes along the Western Distributor Road is a particular sticking point for many.
There was a heated row at City Hall in recent weeks about active travel plans for the road - which include new cycle lanes, improved footpaths, and better crossing points, but no bus lanes.
Should the city council go-ahead with the cycle lanes and partially rip them up down the line to accommodate bus lanes, or pause everything until bus lanes can be installed?
The answer is still up in the air.
But now, an appeal has been lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála against the Park and Ride facility itself - with a decision due by the end of August.
